In India, Direct Selling is regulated by the Consumer Protection (Direct Selling) Rules, 2021, under the Consumer Protection Act, 2019. Knowing the basics protects you before you join any company.
- Genuine products, real customers. Income in legitimate Direct Selling comes from selling real products to real customers — not from joining fees.
- No pyramid or money circulation schemes. Plans that earn mainly by adding new people, without real product sales, are not allowed.
- No joining fee. A Direct Selling company should not charge you a fee simply to become a direct seller.
- No false income claims. Nobody should promise you fixed or guaranteed earnings. If someone does, treat it as a red flag.
